  5. System Requirements:

  7. *  VESA-compatible Super-VGA card, capable of 640x480 256-color display
  8. *  4mb total system RAM
  9. *  2mb available EMS RAM
  10. *  Approximately 560K free conventional RAM (RAM below 640K)
  11.  
  12. VESA Requirement:
  13. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  14. SimCity CD-ROM requires a VESA standard driver to be installed.  If your video
  15. card has VESA built into ROM, and it is a fully-implemented VESA, SimCity
  16. should function perfectly.  If you do not have a fully conformant VESA BIOS,
  17. you may run the program UNIVESA.EXE (in your SimCity directory) before running
  18. SimCity, and this will take care of any incompatibilities.  UNIVESA.EXE is a
  19. TSR that loads itself into memory and allows most systems to support the VESA
  20. BIOS extension.  To run it, from the Dos prompt within the SimCity directory,
  21. type UNIVESA and press <Enter>.

  23. Note To Cirrus Logic Video Chipset Users:
  24. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  25. Certain versions of video cards manufactured using the Cirrus Logic
  26. chipsets do not fully implement the VESA specification, although they
  27. erroneously report to SimCity that they are 100% compliant.

  29. If you encounter a problem (the contents of the movie smeared across
  30. the screen) while playing videos in "windowed" (non-full-screen) mode,
  31. it is recommended that you first run the UNIVESA program before
  32. running SimCity.  Please refer to the above paragraph for notes on
  33. loading and running UNIVESA.

  35. If this does not solve the problem, then select Full Screen Videos
  36. and the problem will go away.

  38. Troubleshooting:
  39. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  40. *  If you have any difficulty with SimCity CD-ROM, or receive some type of
  41.    error while running the program, please write down any information that
  42.    the program displays, such that we may be of greater assistance to you.
  43. *  See the VESA requirement above for information on the VESA standard.
  44. *  If the scrolling in the main (Edit) window is too slow, try downsizing the
  45.    window (using the Resize Icon in the lower right corner of the window).
  46.    A smaller window is able to scroll faster than a large window.
